Just to complete the simple act of placing an ad in your local homes magazine, you’ve got to decide who’s your niche client, how often to run the ad, what your ad is going to say and how much you plan to spend.
With the blogging strategy, it’s the same as placing an ad or writing a newsletter, only it’s on the Internet and best of all, it’s free.

The National Association of Realtors® reports that almost ninety-percent of sellers and buyers do their research online BEFORE calling an agent or loan officer. |
Rhonda Porter started to blog because she was upset over a local news reporter’s comments about the mortgage industry and fraudulent loans. She was so bothered by the wrong information, that the very next morning, she wrote her first blog with the intent of setting the record straight!
Not knowing if anyone would even read what she wrote; she got an invitation to write for a blog called Rain City Guide, which is the most widely read real estate blog in Seattle. You have to be invited to write for them and she is the only mortgage person, along with several top real estate agents and attorneys, who consistently post.
Now writing her own blog, MortgagePorter.com, along with comments on other blog sites, Rhonda gets more than 50 percent of her deals from people who connect with her thru her discussions on the Internet.
Karen: Rhonda, it’s so generous of you to share your strategies—what are the questions loan officers should ask themselves before they make the decision to blog in the first place. (Readers can listen to audio clips of this interview with detailed tips.)
