Target Market with Classified Advertising!

By: Karen Deis, Publisher

Classified advertising? Come on, that’s just not classy enough for your company image right? Ask yourself this question, "Do I want an "image" or do I want "business"?

Classified advertising is both cost-efficient and EFFECTIVE! Ads in the classifieds are less expensive than display-type ads and achieve a better response because of their location in the newspaper. A display ad could be placed just about anywhere in the paper, while a classified ad is truly a "target market" ad. It appears in that section of the newspaper where only those people who are interested (in that subject) will be reading it.

Most major newspapers publish a one-time weekly, real estate section where real estate agents showcase houses for sale and mortgage companies run display ads where they promote every loan program known to man and woman! The problem here is that these ads are expensive, run only once per week, and the competition with other mortgage companies is fierce.

On the other hand, classified ads run seven days a week and show both Realtor® listed homes and For Sale By Owner homes that are currently on the market. Take a few minutes to look at the real estate, classified section of your newspaper. I will bet you that you do not have much competition from mortgage companies placing ads there. As an added bonus, you are marketing to potential homebuyers (working with real estate agents) AND home sellers (who will become home buyers) listing their own homes for sale. You are advertising to BOTH markets.
