Many of the email responses I receive from loan officers say something like "I am out of the office on vacation (or at a meeting) until (date) and will be in touch with you when I return. If you need help in the mean time, please contact (processor’s name)" While, this type of email message is better than nothing, Steven’s auto-response is designed to "eliminate" work upon his return.
