Up until October 2000, Sally wouldn’t have thought that she endured any hardships beyond your basic life challenges. But during a three-year period, tragedy piled upon tragedy changed her life completely.
“My husband had a hostile takeover of his company. Six months later we had a house fire. Six months later after that my parent’s house blew up and burned to the ground. And that was the beginning of three years and fourteen tragedies. I was like a ball in a pinball machine, getting batted around by life.”
What kept her going? Sally quickly says, “I’ll tell you my core belief, my belief in God. Having my back against the wall for three years allowed me to see who He really is in my life.”
A chance meeting with a minister from Alabama led to a powerful conversation. “He’s standing in my living room saying ‘Sally, God sees so much more in you than you see in yourself’…and he’s looking me dead in the eye and he says ‘You’re going to change industries and you’re going to become a teacher and a trainer in an industry that’s dominated by men and your audience is going to be full of hurting people looking for hope.’” Within six weeks Sally found herself working in the mortgage industry. A little over a year later, Sally recalled that conversation, which still gives her chills today!
