How to Get More Business with Written Quotes
Tips to Get More Business Using Zillow.com to Generate Leads
Written By: Karen Deis
If part of your business plan is to provide mortgage quotes through websites like Zillow.com, there is one concept to remember—the mortgage business is about building relationships! People requesting mortgage quotes thru websites are different than random prospects calling you on the phone—asking about your interest rates! Initially, you really don’t know them personally, but you quickly try to establish rapport over the phone. It’s different online because you need to establish that rapport in writing!
Each one of these tips not only applies to websites like Zillow.com, but you can also use them when sending email quotes—including adding effective content to your website.
Observation #1 - Your Bio
I received quotes from 19 different loan officers. There is a section called ABOUT ME, where you are encouraged to write something about yourself. My observation is that only one paragraph should be about you and one paragraph should be about your company. The length should be 150 words or less. Here are some of the mistakes I have found in reading loan officer's bios.
✓ One LO wrote a complete bio of what he has been doing since 1994
✓ Another LO's bio was only one sentence long: "I've has been in the business 15 years and I am honest."
✓ Others used "technical terms" like FNMA and LTV, Jumbo or Conforming
✓ One left the ABOUT ME blank
The rest of the description should be “about THEM”. Read the article called “Romance Novels And Your Mortgage Business”. Here is an example where I have rewritten one LO’s bio into a compelling story.
