I was transferred to Houston, three months pregnant, at the height of the oil crisis, not knowing one single person (even in the state of Texas). Everyone was moaning about how terrible things were. While that's another story, the moral is that you can adapt and change and still have business coming in the door.

Karen: How did you come up with monikers - The Dream Loan, Second-Time Homebuyer Loan and the ARM Refi Loan?
Chris: The biggest problem is that we become too technical with our customers. I remember from the Million-Dollar Brain event, that one of the speakers said that, "...intelligence is measured on how easy you are able to explain things that are complicated."
So we gave them easy-to-remember names!
Karen: The first one you mention is the Dream Loan. How did you come up with that name?
